Our House

Offering a beacon of hope for the community, Our House provides a safe and nurturing environment to people facing a mental health challenge.
Here guests can explore and improve their mental wellness with the help of our trained staff offering peer support.
We will encourage a focus on wellness where people with a mental health diagnosis are no longer stigmatized.

Our Mission



To provide Broome County residents experiencing emotional distress with an alternative to hospitalization. In a safe, home-like environment, support staff with lived experiences encourage the guests of Our House to utilize wellness tools and behaviors to help improve their own quality of life.

Our Guests are:


- At least 18 years of age

- Experiencing a mental health crisis or significant emotional distress

- Medically and physically stable

- Willing to work on their recovery

- Able to maintain acceptable personal hygiene and sobriety

- Secure in permanent housing

- Able to prepare their own meals and clean up after themselves

- Able to understand and sign necessary pre-registration documents

- Willing to adhere to our Guest Agreement upon entering Our House


We are a voluntary respite center offering an alternative to emergency hospitalization for individuals 18 years and older experiencing mental health crises or emotional distress.

Our guests receive 24-hour support from peers (individuals with lived experience of receiving mental health services and trained to provide support to others) in a friendly, safe and
supportive home-like environment for up to 5 days per stay.

Our House fosters warmth,empathy and compassion, together with a wide range of recovery oriented services.
